Gideon Horizon was founded after seeing the massive demand for pilots in the airline industry in the coming years. What's more important is the quality of pilots produced. A common tendency in civilian aviation is rote memorization and execution of procedures and practices without first analyzing the environment in which the pilot is flying. Our goal is to produce a pilot, whether private or someone who is pursuing a career in the airline industry, that is able to consider all factors in any flying situation and make the best decision thereby greatly increasing overall airmanship and safety.
Our team of certified flight instructors have years of experience and are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise, to include prior military and airline experience, with our students. We train every flight instructor to understand the different methods of teaching and learning to cater to each student individually to maximize knowledge retention and comprehension. Our philosophy is we are 95% instructor and 5% evaluator.
Gideon Horizon was founded in 2024 by Drew Fuller. He began his flying career in 2012 upon commission into the Navy on a pilot contract. Drew completed Naval Flight Training and was assigned to fly the MH-60R Seahawk helicopter in Mayport, FL where he deployed twice. Following HSM-48, Drew was assigned as a flight instructor with VT-27 in Corpus Christi, TX flying the T-6B Texan II. This is where he felt his calling and enjoyed seeing his students advance to each level of their flight training. While there, Drew volunteered to be a part of a team to create an innovative and flexible flight training curriculum that emphasized training a more "thinking" pilot. A pilot who is able to analyze each situation and make the best decisions while flying in dynamic environments. This curriculum also involved the use of virtual reality simulators, iPads, and 3-dimensional debriefing software to quickly build proficiency and understanding for each student. This instructional philosophy and use of modern technology is what Gideon Horizon flight training is based. His goal when creating the company was to produce the safest and most situationally aware aviator.
Drew continues to fly with Southwest Airlines as a First Officer and serve in the Navy reserves flying the Boeing 737.
